  • Responsible for and establishment of the Department of Microbiology, with its 120+ employees with six heads of units, when the The Public Health Agency of Sweden was formed in 2014 and up until November 2021 when taking on the role as DG.
  • Has lead the development of a strategy for the transformation of the technologies at the Department from mainly morphological to molecular with next generation sequencing (NGS) as the standard technique.
  • Lead the development and establishment of a project model at the Department in order to achieve strategic planning and resource allocation.
  • Lead the development of SLIM (Swedish Laboratory network In Microbiology) with formal agreements for cooperation with the 21 Regions in Sweden (established in 1 February 2017).
  • Lead and navigated the Department during the Covid-19 pandemic and developed and implemented a national SARS-CoV-2 testing strategy to support the regional clinical microbiological laboratories and several systems for rapid sequencing and visualization of results.
  • Lead the development of increased laboratory security at the high containment laboratory which is the only BSL-4 laboratory in the Scandinavian and Baltic Sea area.
  • Lead the development of the Agencies facilities including transformation to an activity based work environment.
