Work History

Train Manager

Snälltåget
06.2011 - Current

I started working at Snälltåget as a conductor. My responsibilities included ticket inspection, providing passenger information, and serving customers in the restaurant car. Six months later, I was promoted to train manager, responsible for safety on board the train. Since then, I have progressed to become an instructor, responsible for maintaining the skills of my colleagues and training new employees in safety and service. Depending on my duties for the day, the job involves many different tasks, some of which are:
- Ensuring the train is in working order and carrying out safety checks before each departure
- Informing passengers about delays and other traffic disruptions.
- Supervising my colleagues on board and coordinating with the traffic control centre.
- Ensuring that passengers have the best possible journey.

Traffic Planner

Järnvägsmuseet
03.2018 - Current

As a traffic planner at the Swedish Railway Museum, I am responsible for creating trips and experiences involving historic trains in Sweden. I communicate with customers regarding timetable planning, and ensure that staff working on board the trains comply with current regulations. I also work on board the trains myself, partly in a supervisory role and partly as the person responsible for passenger safety. I also help with serving in the restaurant car and bar. This is a varied role, combining administrative and practical tasks, including:
- Ensuring that timetables and staff are in place for each journey.
- Ensuring that vehicles to be used are safety checked and ready.
- Ensuring that the on-board service and catering provide a great experience.

Traffic Planner

Trafikverket
06.2021 - Current

At the Swedish Transport Administration, I am responsible for our operational train traffic, which is used for inspections, testing and transporting materials. I liaise with train traffic control and drivers regarding safety incidents and disruptions to services. I am also responsible for recruiting new staff and applying for new timetables to ensure that trains can travel from point A to point B.

Tour Guide

Grand Tours
04.2018 - 05.2023

I worked as a tour guide on group train journeys around Europe. My responsibilities included planning alternative routes in the event of traffic disruptions and communicating these to the group during the trip. I also liaised with other guides and bus drivers regarding visits to various locations. Depending on the destination and the size of the group, the job had many different aspects, but some of the responsibilities were:

  • Built personal relationships with guests to promote positive experiences.
  • Assisted tour members with luggage, bags and maps while handling other helpful tasks.
