Work History

Project Engineer - Control Design

Hitachi Energy
Sweden
06.2021 - Current
  • Responsible for coordinating all post-order engineering activities, including designing, developing, and testing the electrical systems for customer projects.
  • Managed tenders for Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) technology.
  • Designed control algorithms for devices such as STATCOM and SVC, aimed at dynamic voltage regulation, reactive power compensation, and power flow control using Hi-Draw and RSCAD.
  • Develop and perform the control system hardware architecture setup.
  • Lead or support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and technical reviews with customers.
  • Coordinated and drove cross-functional teams, technical solution ensuring timely project delivery.
  • Site assignment for a short period of time can be necessary, depending on the progress of the execution of the project.
  • Managing and monitoring all assigned projects to ensure documentation is delivered on time.
  • Analyzed project risks, proposing mitigation strategies during planning phases.
  • Mentored junior engineers on project management best practices.
  • Interacted with clients to gather and interpret technical requirements.

Senior Engineer-Control design

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Pvt. Ltd.
India
07.2017 - 05.2021
  • Identifying the system requirements and converting them into software design.
  • Responsible for the requirement analysis of the HVAC system.
  • Designing the model and implementing control logic as per the requirements of systems in MATLAB Simulink/Stateflow.
  • Performing 'Model in Loop' (MIL) using the MATLAB tool and 'Software in Loop' (SIL) testing using Ruby script language from the generated C code using dSPACE (TargetLink) tool for HVAC control software.
  • Fixing change requests (CRs) identified in software at a much earlier stage and improving the efficiency and robustness of the software through consistent testing.
  • Implemented HMI new features: Suppress Pop-Up, Independent Mode Control, Mode Up/Down, and Lower HVAC Screen Controls in 21MY HVAC Controls software.
  • Integrated autonomous WAYMO HVAC HMI software model updates to the 20MY program, and ensured no major defects leaked to the HIL bench/PWB validation.
  • Improved software in-loop (SIL) test coverage from 40% to 100% for 25 Device Practices using Ruby script language.

College of Engineering, Guindy (Anna University, Chennai)
India
06.2015

Skills

  • Simulation skills: MATLAB/Simulink, RSCAD
  • Management skills: team collaboration, time management, project scoping, document management
  • Other skills: Hardware integration, factory acceptance testing, tender preparation, and system requirements analysis

Accomplishments

  • Awarded Xtra Miler Individual Award, Performance Excellence Award; played a significant role in MMC interface replica setup for MP STATCOM, which helped in having more business opportunities in India
  • Successfully executed around seven FATs and SATs with no major quality issues for STATCOM and SVC projects
  • Received an NPS score of 10 for the successful completion of the FAT (Factory Acceptance Test)
  • Recognized for optimizing and generalizing the Ruby script using 'interpolation method'
  • Recognized for integrating and validating HVAC systems in VHIL, understanding specifications, writing TPs, and executing at the VHIL bench
  • Awarded Best in Mathematics in the state-level math talent search examination (T.N)

Projects

Design and implementation of adaptive relaying in a distribution generator-based system at NIT Trichy (07/2016 – 07/2017)

  • The algorithm is developed based on the islanding mode or grid-connected mode, also to identify, classify, and locate the fault.
  • The discrimination between the island and grid-connected modes has been automatically detected by the designed relaying using a circuit breaker, and the coordination between the relays has been tested under various conditions using MATLAB Simulink

Volunteer Experience

  • NIT Trichy, Placement Coordinator, 2016-06, 2017-06
  • NIT Trichy, Volunteer in Pupil for Pupil Committee(PPC), 2016, 2017, Humanity Club Organized by PG students
  • CEG, Anna University, Volunteer in Kurukshetra'12, 2012, International Techno Management Festival
  • CEG, Anna University, Volunteer-Youth Red Cross(YRC), 2011, 2012
