Accomplishments

Balancing an Inverted Pendulum using H∞ Controller:

  • Balancing the 2DOF pendulum by moving the two robot arm manipulators in order to keep the rod(turn in 2 orthogonal directions) in its upright position.
  • A linear time invariant model topped up by uncertainties that originates from balancing a cup.
  • This LTI model is used to develop robust and optimal output feedback H∞ controller that stabilizes the system and balance a cup on top of pendulum.


Modeling and Simulation of Quadrotor:

  • Implemented core concepts of embedded control systems.
  • Developed a mathematical model for orientation estimation in a Crazyflie 2.0 quadrotor.
  • Designed a LQR (Linear Quadratic Regulator) controller and Complementary filter.
  • Translated the controller and filter into C-code for real-time application on the hardware platform, ensuring responsive and stable control.


Orientation estimation using smartphone sensors:

  • Developed and implemented an Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) for real-time orientation estimation by incorporating measurements from gyroscopes, accelerometers, and magnetometers obtained from a standard smartphone.


3-DOF Helicopter:

  • Study focus on utilizing Simulink tools for linearizing a nonlinear model.
  • Developed control design based on Linear Quadratic (LQ) optimization principles for elevation axis, travel axis, and travel axis speed.


Intelligent Knee Orthosis:

  • Implemented sensor fusion using EMG (Electromyography) and IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) sensors to enhance the system's functionality.
  • Developed a PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) controller for precise torque management in a motor, facilitating improved knee mobility.
